Hobo Johnson and The Lovemakers
08 JUL. Heineken Stage.
Directly from California to Passeio Marítimo de Algés, Hobo Johnson and The Lovemakers, are the latest confirmation to NOS Alive’20. The group takes to the Sagres Stage on July 10, the same day as Caribou.
Of Portuguese, Mexican and American descent, Frank Lopes Jr, has been hip-hop since he was 15 and in 2017 releases the first album, “The Rise of Hobo Johnson”, written during a period in which he lived in his Toyota Corolla of 94, a motif that led to the stage name Hobo Johnson.
In 2018, Hobo Johnson made his big debut on Spotify’s New Music Friday with “Peach Scone”. Then, the online publication of the video of that same live performance assured him to sign up for NPR’s Tiny Desk contest, which resulted in 14.6 million views on Facebook and YouTube in just 7 weeks. Immediately all their social networks increased, the number of followers grew to more than a million, thus raising the debut album to #8 on the iTunes Hip-Hop chart and #11 on the Billboard’s Heatseekers chart.
